S O N G > Outer Space Heaters -"Escape Velocity"

Blasting off to slip the surly bonds of Earth, The Outer Space Heaters are hot enough to warm our corner of the universe with their bombastic surf. Not of this world, surf is really just a diving board for this Portland quartet that is soon releasing their first EP. What? You mean these guys haven't been playing together for years? I know, I know, impossible to believe. Check out the rest of their killer EP "Desolate Surf" at outerspaceheaters.bandcamp.com.

V I D E O > AU - "Solid Gold"

With the 2012 PDX Pop Now! lineup now released, we’d like to take a tour of some of the bands you’ll get to see and hear at RefugePDX next month. Let’s start with AU, in this video from the Into The Woods TV Feels Like Home series. Described as an “inadvertent home intrusion,” this episode brings us into “The Room” where AU’s recent album Both Lights was recorded. The energetic, sometimes meditative and sometimes frantic sounds of “Solid Gold” take over your brain from the start and don’t let go until the last beat. And Luke Wyland, Dana Valatka, and their home-made local backup band make it look ridiculously easy, comfortable and totally focused in their own space. AU plays PDX Pop Now! on Friday July 20, outside, at 11:30.
